Standing On This Mountain

by Douglas Gravestock

Standing On This Mountain

I stand here on this mountain looking eastward to you,

Daydreaming of the day you will travel west to me.

The miles between you and I bring us closer

In a relationship that will truly be ours.

I stand here knowing the time for you and I is near.

No earthly thing can take the feelings that build in us.

Your life is like mine, waiting and seeking to live

A Need, a want that grows deeper in your heart each day.

We know this need that burns in our souls for our hearts are one.

The distance between us does not run too far for us to cross

You and I are on our way to join together as one.

Together you and I will melt the miles between us

Until we stand on the mountain as one.
