One Who Hopes

If we can look at the sunset and smile

Then we still have Hope

If we can find beauty in the colors of a small flower

Then we still have Hope

If we can find pleasure in the movement of a butterfly

Then we still have Hope

If the smile of a child can warm our heart

Then we still have Hope

If we can see the good in other people

Then we still have Hope

If the rain on a roof top can lull us to sleep

Then we still have Hope

If the sight of a rainbow makes us stop and stare in wonder

Then we still have Hope

If we meet new people with excitement and optimism

Then we still have Hope

If we give people the benefit of a doubt

Then we still have Hope

If we offer our hand in friendship to others, who have touched our life

Then we still have Hope

.

If receiving an unexpected call or letter, still brings us a pleasant surprise

Then we still have Hope

If the suffering of others fills us with pain and frustration

Then we still have Hope

If we refuse to let a friendship die or accept that it must end

Then we still have Hope

If we look forward to a time and place of quiet and reflection

Then we still have Hope

If we still buy ornaments, put up the Christmas tree, or cook the turkey

Then we still have hope

If we still watch love stories or want the endings to be happy

Then we still have Hope

If we can look to our past and smile

Then we still have Hope

If, when we are faced with the bad, are told that everything is futile,

We can still look up and say "yeah…BUT.."

Then we still have Hope

Hope is such a marvelous thing. It bends, it twists, it sometimes hides, but rarely does it break. It sustains us when nothing else can. It gives us reason to continue and the courage to move ahead, when we tell ourselves we’d rather give in.

Hope puts a smile on our faces when our hearts cannot manage

Hope puts our feet on the path when our eyes cannot see

Hope moves us to act when our souls are do not know what to do

Hope is a wonderful thing, something to be cherished and nurtured, and some-thing that will refresh us in return. It can be found in all of us and it can bring light into the darkest of places.

We Must Never lose hope
